9U and 10U Competitive Teams (typically ages 9-10 or grades 3 and 4)

• Open to anyone 10 and under subject to tryout.
• Players ages 9 and 10 who tryout and are not selected for a competitive team will be automatically placed in Little Bucks.
• 8 year old players who are in 3rd grade who are not selected to the 9U competitive team will also be placed in Little Bucks to play with grade appropriate peers.
• 8 and under players who are in 2nd grade or younger will receive a recommendation for placement in either Little Bucks or Coach Pitch based on the evaluation of MBSC coaching staff.

Little Bucks Recreational Program (typically ages 9-10 or grades 3 and 4)

• Open to players 9-10 as well as 8 year olds who are in the 3rd grade.  No evaluation necessary if your player falls within this group.
• Players (under 9 years old) in 2nd grade or younger who wish to “play up” in Little Bucks rather than Coach Pitch must attend at least one competitive evaluation session (even if not interested in being considered for a competitive team). Players will be assessed as part of this process and placement recommendation (Little Bucks vs Coach Pitch) will be made by MBSC coaching staff.

Coach Pitch (typically ages 6-8 or grades 1 and 2)

• Open to players 6-8.  No evaluation necessary if your player falls within this group.

FAQ

My child is age 8 and in the 2nd grade and is interested in kid pitch but is not ready for a competitive team, what do we need to do to get placed in Little Bucks?

In order to be allowed to “play up” (even in recreational baseball), MBSC will need to assess the player’s skills and readiness in order to ensure a proper fit. Register your player for Little Bucks and check the box for a competitive evaluation. Attend at least one evaluation and have your child evaluated.  MBSC coaches will then make a recommendation on your child’s readiness for Little Bucks vs Coach Pitch.  We are looking for the placement that is correct for the player.

My child is age 8 and in the 3rd grade and is interested in Little Bucks, can we sign them up?

Yes, register for Little Bucks as you normally would. As part of the registration process, we will note that your child is grade-appropriate, and he/she will be placed in the league with his/her peers.
